Diets fail most of the time…like 95% of the time! And even when they work, only a small number of people actually MAINTAIN the weight loss long-term but most will gain it back. This is why so many people get stuck in this never ending diet cycle. The cycle is also damaging to our metabolism, making it increasingly harder to successfully lose weight each time we try a new diet.
Diets are packaged as a product for consumers to buy and when it doesn’t work, the consumer blames themselves! Not the diet. This is why I’m so passionate as a dietitian and nutrition coach to encourage sustainable, life-long habits rather than focusing on immediate weight loss.
Getting out of this cycle can be really challenging! One of the ways I’ve been talking about recently is mindful eating and learning to rebuild trust with yourself and your food choices.
